Griffin was the first goblin I found in Goblinwoode, followed shortly thereafter by Whale. Both are enormous and clearly delineated with familiar yet mythical form. It would be months then before I discovered a second goblin embedded in this first…
When I found the Green Man’s Apprentice, I was so taken by the clarity of the face and the intensity of expression that I didn’t even realize he was a part of Griffin until the following day.
After identifying a goblin, I will come back again and again, gradually familiarizing myself with various angles and more intimate details. There are several areas on Griffin where barbed wire threads and loops. At certain points, the wire enters the tree where the bark has inosculated over time. Concepts of wounding and entanglement will be at the heart of the Griffin Video in the Goblin Movement Series, a work in progress.
